If you look for geeky subjects, you have found one...
But really...
I am currently putting online a 4 x 45 crime thingy, the last one shot on M, and we've been using that as our first RLF online and Open EXR VFX case.
And the results are amazing. Yes on M. The images comes out extremely well and the workflow is so much more simple.
As mentioned other places, I really want RLF on the camera, too.
I think it can be a great option, in addition to RedGamma, depending a bit on the DoP.
And I still do stuff with the files, like pulling back on exposure to get full highlightcontroll and lifting lowlights to compensate. I even put out the occational RedLog image in the mix and adjust them to fit in, when I think that looks the best. Which M Most and Graeme probaly think is wrong and unneccesary. But I see it works quite well, on those images I think need it.
But overall, the whole workflow have become so much easier and the baseline results have been risen a lot.
RedlogFilm is very much the "getting a new camera" all over again experience. And: Yes. It is because it fits into a 20-years old non-revolutionary Cineon workflow. But that really doesn't hurt. Being able to take advantage of 20 years of established signalchain experience with RED material, makes for more fun than I'd have imagined.
