Severe green artifacts in blacks.

Hi guys,


A couple of days ago on a shoot I noticed these strange green artifacts on the files from the Epic. It was shown on the LCD as well.
I use the latest firmware.
Any ideas what could cause this?

Luckily it only occurred on the warm up shots, but still makes me nervous.

Did you blackshade after the firmware update?

Yes I did, and I black shade calibrated after the conditions on the set. Quite chilly and high frame rate.

I think you should contact RED... I have never seen anything like that

I'd do a factory reset, and re black shade with a black sweatshirt over the camera. might have been a light leak during the shading...;(

Interesting you note the cold temperature. I noticed others with similar issues with cold weather.

Ah this sucks! I will try a factory reset first. I already did contact RED, but they haven't answered back yet.

Just noticed it did it again! It's only in the blacks/underexposed part of the image and only the first couple of shots. Perhaps it's the temperature?
Quite strange.... Damn!

Also, when blackshading, I hope waited until the camera was hot.

I blackshade calibrated when the camera were 45c. I probably started shooting when the camera was around 29-35c.
The temperatures are around 5c outside.
Quite weird, but I should probably play around with black shading or let the camera heat up?

Iʻve never seen this exact problem before, but I have seen blackshade problems and this doesnʻt look like that. It looks like a vertical band straight down the middle of the frame, not even really evident on just the blacks, either.
Did you try reloading the firmware?
