Here's a link to three "quick-and-dirty" web spots I did a couple of weeks ago.
Just an AC and a gaffer. Very low-budg. But I think we ended up with a pretty naturalistic look.
Kinda wish the director had tweaked the skin tone detail a little bit. The girl was very pretty but needed a little help to smooth out. We used a Soft FX 1 for the closeups.
Had a problem with the iPhone screen; LCD-style pulsing and banding that my shutter tweaks could never completely eliminate.
I did NOT shoot the end shots (ENG press conference stuff) No offense to whoever did...
Anyway, here they are, three spots labeled "Seventeen..."

nice Harry,

Its a shame they put that tag at the end, especially in the audio.

Agreed. It's as if it was an exercise in "how far away can we place the mic?" I'm sure it was ON the camera :)

I think it looked great! Nice warm skin tones. Very smooth. Fantastic work

I didn't see any problems in the iPhone screen. The only thing that looked odd was the eng looking shot at the end. It takes you completely out of mood of the girl texting a message. They could have just voiced over the naration in a studio with good audio, and scrapped the other shot.

Thanks for the kind words...
Brad, scrub frame by frame. You'll see the banding on the iPhone. I couldn't agree more on the tag shot... ;( Maybe I'll go back to the director and ask for a directors cut!
rgd, it was S4s; the infamous Cooke 15-40 on the wide stuff. Either the 50, 65, or 75 on the tight stuff. We may have used the 100 on the eyeball shot (I think we did) I needed a diopter for the eyeball and the iPhone.
Thundercross, 4K 2:1. I believe the director just cropped the sides. Knowing that there are still issues with 16:9 files I'm advising all clients to shoot that way, since it's easy enough to deal with later. I DO agree with Jim (and Vittorio Storaro) that 2:1 is a nice format.
Cheers,
Harry

You can't scrap the shots of the 3 girls at the end. That is the cast from MTV's "The Hills."

I know cause I watch the show.....don't make fun of me, haha....

The Hills is one of the greatest shows going right now. I'm in love with all three of those chicks for sure - especially Whitney. :) Plus they do great cutaway, timelapse and helo shots for the transitions on that show - probably the best for this genre of TV.

Clips were very sharp, but yeah, need to disfuse the skin a bit... girls this age are super obsessive about their skin.
