Looking for a jib for my Red and are choosing between Seven Jib Compact XL and Porta-Jib Traveller.

Any thoughts on that?

I have owned a 7 Jib for over 10 years. Love it. Packs up small and is quick to set up. If you get one, you won't regret it.

One more for the Seven Jib... though the porta jib seems nice I picked up a seven jib and have been happy. Very quick to set up though 2 people pretty much required for safety.

Can you operate the 7 jib from behind the arm and lock off the head? Or is it only from the side like in the 7 jib demo video. Just curious if you can operate similar to the way you do with a Kessler. Also do you notice any side to side twisting since its a single arm design as opposed to the Kessler which is dual arms with the cam mounted between them? Thanks.

yes... but you will obviously need some sort of remote pan head if you want to pan from the tip.

I like the versatility and finesse of the Porta-Jib Traveller.

Thank you all for your input. I went with the Seven Jib because it seems to handle some extra weight.

Seven Jib is a great product, but Porta-jib has done a great job making their line very versatile. They have extensions and a shortening kit (for small moves) as well as a nice assortment of accessories. It integrates well with the other losmandy products if you have any.

Hi, I recently bought the seven jib and have found that when using heavier cameras - I was using the panasonic HDX900 - there is a degree of lateral flex which I never found with the losmandy or the miller. I had a local engineer fabricate another bracket for the end out of the next grade of steel and that pretty much fixed it. On the plus side it's great for travelling and with the extension weight bar needs a fraction of the counterbalance required on most other systems. The kessler looks promising - I have the Kpod tripod I use with the seven jib and it is rock solid but the jib can't be anywhere near as quick to set as the seven.
Overall, pretty pleased, especially for the money and great service from Doug.
