I have footage which I recently shot using anamorphic lenses in 4k and 2k ana mode, I am trying to get it to unsqueeze when I render it to ProResHQ files, but I can't seem to get the settings quite right in RedCineX, it doesn't seem to be too intuitive.
I searched the forum and didn't come up with anything, if anyone could walk me through the particular settings and steps I need to take to unsqueeze to my 2.40 aspect ratio I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

Go to Framing Controls in the lower right-hand portion of the screen (drop-down tabs). Fit Width 2X, and then for safety (not positive it's necessary) select 16:9 for Aspect Ratio. I then save a framing preset for Anamorphic footage that can be applied to selected clips in a bin or the timeline. Then I output to 1920x1080 ProRes files, which end up nicely letterboxed with timecode information for easy reference, ready to edit.

Unfortunately, there's no indication that a clip has had this preset applied, so sometimes I apply it again to a bin of clips I'm about to transcode just for good measure.

Of course, it's good to run a small section of a single clip to make sure it's all working to your liking.

Holler if it's not working...

Thank you Clint, I should have just asked you when I saw you earlier!
thanks a lot man.

Hmm, I just tried it on a clip.
"Fit Width 2x"
"No Crop"
"Lock Aspect ratio 16:9"
and it still didn't come out totally right, its definitely not 2.40
Any other ideas?
Thanks!

If you've shot at 2.4, I don't think you want to Lock Aspect ration to 16:9. Choose the same setting as the aspect ratio you are looking for, i.e. 2.39:1, no?

Also, have you double checked where you are "applying" the Framing Preset...that it is effecting the clip you are transcoding? (by this I mean not apply to "timeline all" or "bin selected", etc.)

I'm still unsure how to keep settings for a batch render. Most times it'll render just the first clip in the bin with the desqueeze settings and then the rest are uneffected.
