  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SENSOR COVERAGE in Scarlet-X vs. Red-One ???

We need to know if S-16 glass is an option here. Some say it is. Some say some of it is, but not all.

Carter, the notes I posted earlier in this thread (here) were not speculation. I own these lenses, and I put them on my Epic to answer your question. So the answer is: some S16 lenses will work and some of them won't. The image circle is one consideration. For lenses with deep rear elements, clearing the OLPF is the other potential issue.

I was answering a number of posts from different people with that. I wasn't challenging you on that, or calling it speculation.
I'm trying to compile a list of lenses that mount without interference (because of your post, which I actually quoted on the Data Sheet thread),
Which 16mm lenses will cover 3K, which will cover 2k but not 3K.

I just don't want to see anyone buying this camera assuming their lenses will work, or buying lenses that won't mount or cover.
Thanks a TON for your information. This is EXACTLY what we need.

Fantastic thread! I'm looking forward to a more complete list of possible S16 lenses.

I'll be mainly shootin in 3K because of HDRx being available with 25fps. And 3K gives enough room to repo or scale down to 2K (which will be 90% of my deliverables) ... 3K being a sensor-crop to 4/3 ... even though there is no adapter (yet) to put 4/3 lens on an Canon-Mount ... there are a lot of Lenses with a c-mount covering pretty much the 4/3 area. Such as the absolutely beautiful Canon 17-102 f2 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/CANON-ZOOM-...85859261?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item43a84454bd) This Lens gives some vignetting (as you can see on this GH1-Test (http://vimeo.com/7616171) but again ... if you shoot 3K for 2K Deliverable, theres room enough to get rid of the vignetting. And with f2 you get a pretty shallow depth of field too. So if you going down the road "shoot 3k for comfortable 2K Output" like i do most of the time keep an Eye on c-mount lenses as well ;-)
This even extends out more when you shoot 2K ... then some pretty cheap but awesome craftet russian Glasses like the Meteor 5 from Krasnogorsk come into play ... Comback of the old vintage S16 Lenses ;-)
