  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sennheiser MKE 400 on Epic?

The mini connector is probably wired differently than the Epic input. Check the Epic Ops guide for the pinout diagram. I posted a photo of a cable package that works here; http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?63328-Audio-Cable-for-Epic-X
This is for XLR to Epic.
I know a 5D type mini cable will not work with Epic. Epic is wired for a Stereo input connector but it is mono unbalanced. I am confused also. The cable that I have found that works is mono xlr balanced to stereo unbalanced. All that said with the right connectors it sounds really good.
Maybe a mono to stereo plug adapter would solve this? I don't know, just throwing out ideas.

This may all change in future builds. I have no idea, what or when.
 
I was taking a second look at the Epic Ops Guide and on page 132 of Ver 1.6.42 and page 126 of Ver 1.6.34 the manual states:

Microphone Level analog audio input signals are routed via a high quality A/D and pre-amplifier, whose
Gain may be controlled using the Input Level control to achieve the desired audio reference / recording
level. Each microphone input supports +48V @ 10mA Phantom Power as a user selectable option.

I don't know what the phantom support mentioned is about that is mentioned here. As far as I know the camera has no 48v Phantom power yet. Maybe the manual was written from a future spec point of view.
 
Alexander, is that mic still working well on Epic? If so, can you repost that adapter you had to get? Thanks.
