  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

semi custom cases avaliable for RED

My Red case is made by Mastercase (818-896-9333). They used a 1620 Pelican case with hard foam cutouts for the ET top plate, ET /EVF, and two hard drives. Much too big for carryon but perfect for shipping. About $500, they make cases for Panavision.

I wouldn't ship the camera with the lens attached to it.
Also if you are putting batteries where is the charger/power supply?

Hello Ckarcher,

Can you sell me or provide me with a contact for the carry-on with custom foam??? I need the case to hold a body, 1- lens (18-50mm) & a red drive as the minimum. So, if my other cases don't make it I can still shoot.

Thanks,
Prio

Below are some pics of the carry-on case. I'm still working on getting a few more storage slots in the overall design as well as making a few adjustments for a better fit of the camera and accessories. This is a very tight fit to get all of the items in a carry-on approved case and still protect the camera. Also remember there are notches in the bottom of the case for wheels and support. So where it may look like there is more available space- there actually isn't.

The point of this case is to well protect the camera and allow it to be easily carried on to aircraft for travel. Additional elements would have to be checked or carried on in a separate tote. With this case it's all about protecting the body and a few necessities that could be difficult to source when traveling abroad.

Your thoughts?

The cases look great. Nice cut outs. I have a question, is the softer foam on the inside of the sandwich a closed cell foam like the outer foam of the sandwich? I ask because open cell foam tends to degrade pretty badly over time, not to mention it holds moisture. I am pretty sure you can get different grades of closed cell foam. I use laminated closed cell foam that is custom cut for my camera cases. Here is a pic. Cheers

PS SR2 HS S16mm Camera package inside of case is for sale!

It all looks great, good effort. But, I would never carry the camera body around in a case with a lens attached, it'll trash that mount in no time.
The RED camera and all attachments should be handled like film gear,
not a news camera.
my 2 cents.
