  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

There was a rather large falling out on here as Red took offense with any sort of "Selling Reservation" / "Lease Red One to transfer to Epic" kind of deals. A LOT of people, prominent well respected people, were doing this for a long time without realizing Red was mad until everything suddenly got nasty and crazy real quick.

Anyway, the dust has settled, but I think what is BEST is to either let it go, or buy the other epic and sell it yourself. Which is fine ( I think) as far as Red is concerned.

I would LOVE to take advantage of something like this, and I think there are a LOT of people who weren't in the Red Camp (Country Club, lol) early on, but can now afford to be, but have to wait a lot longer to buy their way in. However, I personally wouldn't risk jumping in this way, lest Red take drastic measures against me, and I think others are feeling the same way.

I don't mean this to imply any guilt OR innocence, but in case you aren't a fervent reader of this forum and have been, instead, out working a lot, lol... you might not know about the blow up.

Ok thanks for the update. I guess I haven't been following the threads.

For the rest of you reading this post the reservation is no longer for sale.

you can sell the epic X - YES....BUT, you and new buyer must do the change of name/warranty - buyer pays (i think $500 or $900) for RED to check camera out and make a name change to the new registered owner.....but contact RED about that....that's what i recall...
...the original threads Jeffrey is referring to were mostly about folks in Stage 2 selling their R1's before their Stage 2 X's arrived.....Anyway, you can do the sell....just have to have red do the change of ownership last i recall.

bottom line is that you need to take delivery of the Epic X first, then you can sale it the same day you get it, when the buyer buys it off you, the original
warranty will be voided and a new one for 90 days will be issued, to the new owner after Change of Ownerhsip.

Failure to do the change of ownership and try to go around RED, and keeping the camera in the original owner of record just to keep the full one year warranty,
will get very Negative response from RED with consequences which will not be in either the seller or the buyer's favor, on this trust me.

Just look through the Recon thread and find the post that talks about the Stage 2 brokering issue.

Very useful information.

But, all of that aside, I sent you a pm. So if you are still interested in selling once you take delivery and it's ok by RED, send me a pm.
 
What about the selling of an older RED ONE? does there need to be a transferal of ownership through Red?
