Hi,

I'm looking for sample footage or stills shot with Leica M lenses on the Komodo. Not interested in R glass -- we've seen what that can do. I realize M lenses are limited by shorter focus throw, inability to de-click, and challenges with using a follow focus, but some of us are already invested ;). Elsewhere on here Jarred expressed excitement about using a Japanese pancake in M mount -- would love to see that.

Specific questions:

- Does the rear element protrude too close to the sensor?
- How is CA, sharpness, light falloff, etc. at the corners and edges of the frame -- specifically on focal lengths wider than 50mm?
- What is the single user experience like of pulling focus with these lenses?
- Which ND/matte box solutions are people using? IR or regular?
- Which M-RF mounts?
- How do non-Leica M mount lenses behave (i.e., Voigtlander, Zeiss)?

Thank you in advance,

50mm F0.95 TTartisan 50mm lense on the RED KOMODO

50mm F0.95 TTartisan 50mm lense on the RED KOMODO

I was trying something similar; trying to see if the 50mm F0.95 TTartisan 50mm lense worked on the on the RED KOMODO with an adapter. Theoretically it should have worked since it is a full frame lens on a super 35 mm sensor, but unfortunately it has a huge crop factor each time I tested out. I am not sure if I need a speedboster, but then again, I could not find a speedboster that converted a leica M mount lens to a Canon RF mount camera!

Any help would be extremely welcome! I AM QUITE DESPERATE!

Here is a Voigtlander 35MM comparison video:

Hi there,

I have uploaded for you some of mine clips where I used Komodo and Voigtlander M-mount lenses. Lenses used are 15mm f4.5, 40mm f1.4, and 75mm f1.8. I have used different ND filters; Tiffen VariND, Marumi ND8, Hoya ProND1000, and Tiffen Circular Polarizer. At the moment I have hit the maximum daily upload on Youtube, so will add some more clips tomorrow.

And I am using the Metabones adapter.

Hope that helps.

From Ben Ross, Reginal Sales Manager for Leitz...

Hello Keith,

Thank you for reaching out. The Leitz M0.8 lenses have no issues with the RED Komodo and in fact are extremely popular combination. The focus can take a little bit to get used to but users become quite capable also the lenses can accept focus levers (small metal rods) that can aid in focusing if needed.

The link below is an adapter that is quite popular and has positive feedback from rentals, it’s also extremely affordable.

I hope this helps answer your questions.
Best,
Ben

You can rent the whole M0.8 set @Cinevisuals on Hollywood Blvd.
