I really hope someone can help me out with the following electrical question. I have an old Lee 1200w HMI with an electronic ballast that is 240V. I also have a heavy duty 120v/240v inverter (converter?) whose fuse just blew out. The fuse is rated at 50 Amps.
So here is the problem. There is no way on earth I can get my hands on a replacement 50 Amp fuse in time for a shoot (we're outside of the US and no one here has them). I can only find 30 Amp fuses.
So, my question: Can I use one of these 30 Amp fuses on the inverter without any risk to it or to the HMI? My medieval and uninformed logic tells me that there is no way that the HMI draws anywhere near 30 Amps... So this should be okay, no? Or am I about to blow something up?
