Seeking 4 a DP in WISCONSIN for a feature film to shoot with RED Epic** ASAP

Can anybody explain to me what bump means when it appears in a post ?

Whenever someone makes a comment in a thread, that thread goes back up to the top of the list of threads on the first page of a sub-forum. People, often the thread starter, write/comment 'bump' in order bump the thread back to the top of the list where it will get more attention.

It's a practice that's generally frowned upon as it's a kind of exploiting/gaming of the system and a form of attention-seeking that can hinder the natural flow of information. It can waste peoples time and clutter up message boards with subjects no-one cares about, or with questions no-one has an answer for, while pushing other subjects out of sight. It's tolerated more on some slower moving forums and sub-forums than on other busier ones, but if left unchecked it would make the forums useless for their intended purpose.

I'm not sure what the rules are on these forums, but I think it's only allowed in a limited form (ie. one bump per day, and only one or two times) in the 'For Sale' section, or in other sections if you've asked for help or asked a question that no-one has responded to at all. It's not tolerated if it's just someone trying to promote themselves or their work or business. Generally speaking, if people are interested in a subject they'll comment on it and the thread will stay at or near the top of a list for a while before sinking down, so bumping isn't necessary. And if a subject proves valuable or interesting enough it will be 'stickied' at the top of a forum list so it never sinks down out of sight at all.

And that's the short answer lol.
