Has anyone seen this?

Some of the R3D files coming from this project are giving me a "Searching for movie data in file...R3D"

I have rebuilt the proxies for these particular R3D's using Clipfinders "Make Quicktimes".. same problem.

When I export the offline XML to Clipfinder and point CF to my R3D drive it takes a half hour to reconnect to the R3D's for a 10 minute reel.. (when it usually takes 2 minutes).

After CF finally exports the xml, I open that in Color and get the same "searching for movie data in file" issue, however, after that XML loads, Color crashes giving me a "REDCODE.Color plugin error"

Any ideas!?

I need to somehow get these files into Color!

Since a few weeks we get that notification on our machines here as well during startup of final cut. Also happened once when trying to reconnect files in fcp. Makes it virtually impossible to reconnect the files here. Seems like a final cut studio bug, as we used to get a similar notification in DVD studio in earlier versions. If there is anyone out there with a fix..?

What's weird is that I am opening different RED projects and having no problems.
It's specific to this project shot on build 21. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Are you seeing it for all RED projects?

Not sure actually, but probably not. At the moment we have too many projects - shot with different builds - open at the same time to judge that... busy weeks. But what is really weird, is that these projects have been open for a long time without giving any trouble. Including a build 21 project. All of a sudden it was just there. First one machine, yesterday the next started giving the same trouble during startup of fcp. You can work around it by repeatedly hitting cancel at startup, but still...it shouldn't happen. Feels like it's a bug that could give more serious trouble later on when trying to reconnect files also..

Try creating new proxies for that clip.

That dialog usually arises in quicktime reference movies that have lost the link to their original material.

Has anything unusual happened in that regard? Unusual directory structure, renaming of containing folders or volumes?

Might be something missing on an extra external disk from one of the projects. Will give it a try with new proxies too.. Thanks!

I've tried recreating proxies, no luck.

The only thing I can imagine is that I've got

Volume/R3Dfiles

And also on the same drive

Volume/Folder/REEL/R3Dfiles

which contain the same R3D folders.. I thought that was the problem. So I copied the R3D material to another drive, and then told CF to only look at that drive to avoid any confusion.. same problem.

Then I tried recreating the proxies on the NEW drive.. same problem..

Check the data integrity of the drives with Disk Warrior. Since you didn't use any funny characters in your path names (which can cause issues too) the file structure might be damaged.

If the data integrity is bad, what are my options? Just a repair in DW?

Update:
Did a verify in Disk Utility and it says it "appears to be OK"

After all that it turns out it was simply a corrupt drive.

Received the master drive and all was fine...

wish I had thought of that sooner :\

DW is one of my indispensable tools, it sees way more problems (and fixes them) than Apple's utility.
