  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Seagate FIRMWARE

I have 12 of these drives and upgraded the firmware on all of them as soon as I got them. I think you will loose data when you upgrade, but I don't remember for certain. I still had one die after upgrading the firmware.

The 8 in my raid have been working great for months after the one died. It is Rocketraid Raid 5 so I lost no data when the one drive failed.

Agreed with Martin

Always back up your data before you do a firmware upgrade.

You should be backing up your data mid-project anyway, right?

I have a RAID-5 built out of 4 of the 1.5TB drives and I think I have one going out. It occasionally makes a high-pitch whining noise, but as soon as I access the drive the whine will go away. I have all my firmware up to date... I have a new one in a box ready to go if this one does crash. :) All diagnostics say the drive is OK, but I know better...
