  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SDK Update

Hi Peter,

There were some applications that fell into a grey area and your might have been one of them. I'll send you an email.

Cheers,

Deanan

I hope this is not due to my poking on the RAW slicer (trimmer) subject... :innocent:

Deanan, I might be one of those too.. I've received nothing here yet.

I'll send you an email.

I'll check on your's Jeff but I think you should have gotten it already.
If not then yours might have gotten stuck when we mass emailed the sdk's out.

Grey Area:
Description of Application: Using RED SDK to take control of US nuclear arsenal and deliver complete world domination to users (dependent on capabilities of SDK).

To clarify Dylan: Using the SDK for your own world domination is a conflict of interest with our world domination goals.

I also haven't recieved any news of the SDK... Am I grey area? :)

Me too...

Email r3dsdk@red.com if you haven't gotten the sdk yet. Main reasons why you haven't gotten the sdk yet:

1. Your virus/spam is killing the email
2. Incomplete or no signed SDK agreement
3. "just checking things out"

Regarding #3. The SDK program takes a considerable amount of resources that adds up over time. If you're just curious or aren't dead serious about developing with the SDK, please don't sign up.

Have not received it yet... I sent last week the signed contract, and I checked the spam/junk mail, and it is not there:wink: I will send an e-mail as you suggested.

Thanks,

Got it Deanan - Thanks... :)

I have a quick question for Graeme:

Having access to the RAW data is one part of the story. What I would like to know is the scaling algorithm I call the "Graeme's WooDoo Magic" which extrapolates about 78% of resolved detail from the Bayer pattern data. Is this something we can get access to - or we have to create our own algorithms?

Also - if I want to use just a B&W image, can I treat all photosites as grayscale, giving me full 4K res? Is the ratio standard with the 30/59/11 for RGB respectively, or are you using something slightly different to mask the photosites...?

Somehow I get the feeling the answer is going to be "make Your own" and "no comments" - but it never hurts to ask... :)

No. Consider the case of an image of a pure red ball. What would the green and blue data be? (Apart from the highlight part) - They'd both be black. So you have to do the bayer, then convert.

You'd need a sensor without the colour filters on it for that. The magic is built into the SDK - thanks Rob.
