I'm aware of the 3 different types of SDI cables and the difference between them however I'm trying to get an answer as to why or do you have to use 12g regardless on the Komodo.

I've been using 3g for a while now with no issue so why do some people just bluntly say you have to use 12g regardless without provided a simple technical explanation.

3g only provides HD signal, while 12g is 4K. Komodo has 4k output on the camera and can provide a 4k image over SDI if you have a monitor/teradek that accepts 4k input. If your monitor/teradek is HD - 3g is good enough.
Basically it's a higher bitrate stream, that's pretty much it.

Alex I'm aware signal resolution as you stated I just would like to know if my monitor display only support HD other than cost difference why would I need to use a 12g cable instead of a 3g is their any other technical reason why would using a 3g run the risk of potential problem for the Komodo and not the 12g type if all we are really talking about is resolution differences.
