SCRATCH with MX and FLUT

As part of our ongoing commitment to RED and the RED workflow, ASSIMILATE has been working with a pre-alpha release of SCRATCH that incorporates FLUT, and can playback the new MX footage at Full Rez High in *realtime* through RED Rocket.

We are still quite a ways from releasing this into SCRATCH for the general public. FLUT is still very new, RED is constantly making it better, and we are also crunching and testing.

But, I have to say this...

The new MX footage is *incredible*. I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E.

I am not a person prone to wild pronouncements. I usually leave that to Mark Pederson. :: ducks ::

But after seeing this footage, and seeing it projected on the new Sony T-Series projector at true 4K - I do not understand why anyone would want to shoot film other than as a pure creative choice for the look.

Does MX have the range of good 35 stock? No, not yet.

Does Film have the noise floor and clean detail in the lowlights that MX has? Not that I have ever seen.

MX blows away any digital footage I have ever seen. I know there are other camera companies working hard on new releases and cool technology.

But the bar is now set awfully damned high. Wow.

Yeah, the M-X footage they showed today look damn good on the screen. Even the Fincher clip at 2000 ISO look good. Can't wait to see more from the M-X chip.

Agreed. I could not believe what I saw today. At 4K, the 2000 ISO clip was way beyond what I was expecting. It definitely looked usable, not sure if I would live at 2000, but when you need it, it will be good to know you have it.
