I have been using http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...055_ME_52W_Noise_Cancellation_Microphone.html as scratch mic on Scarlet and no matter how I set the gain and other settings in the menu, I always get a buzz or drop out of the scratch mic recording. Sometimes unusable even as a scratch track. Try not to have the gain too high, but when recording always some issue with quality - even on tripod in relatively noise free environment.
I have to wonder if it is impedance mismatch, but others seem to be using these mic's with no complaints.
Any experience from Scarlet users about the ideal scratch mic and best practice on adjusting gain, levels etc.?
Have used (variety of button) scratch mic on several Epic and not noticed this.
Thx
Mike

This mic needs power supplied by the camera, but not phantom power. That means it's essentially incompatible with the Scarlet.

This is the one I use

Model number might have changed.

Works fine with my Scarlet.

Mike, I bought the same mic you did as it was recommended by another reduser and it is almost useless on our epic.

I use the 52w and use it to catch claps and stuff for syncing, but for nothing else. I don't remember it being absolutely horrible, but I do remember it being right next to the fan and constantly picking up that noise (but again, I used it to catch claps, which it did so easily).

The one that Eric Santiago mentioned above is the one I use on the scarlet. Works good. I found out about it on here..
