What are your solutions for scratch audio? If you don't record scratch or reference tracks, please dont post "I only record off camera"... I need to know what works well with the RED and is fairly easy to mount to a cheese cage. The sound doesn't have to be awesome.. just need audio with the video to make post go smoother.

So what do you use? Rode? Something else? Not looking to spend a lot - just need reference. Doesn't have to sound good - that's what external's for :)

Thanks so much!

I use Zaxcom ERX TCD, which provides scratch audio and Timecode, via Zaxnet, wirelessly.

Thank you very much

I hang a Rhode NTG2 on top connected by a xlr to 3 mm cable. I'm happy with 80% of the sound I get out of it for my Doco project

I mount a crappy shotgun $30 mic off the Oconnor MB, sounds fine for syncing, reference etc. Mounting on the Mb minimises the issue of fan noise.

I use an Audio Technica AT4053b hypercardioid for audio on-camera but if that mic has to go on a boom, I use a Behringer C2 condenser for scratch. Either are mounted in a RØDE SM3 shockmount in a 1/4-20 to cold shoe adapter.
