  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scratch audio with Red One

I want to record audio directly to the Red one so that I can easily sync later with the audio recorded to external recorders. Do you record audio with directly to Red One? If so how? How usable is it?

Audio recording in the Red One is excellent. Very usable in my opinion. (I've done many pieces that use the audio recorded by the camera.)

On a quality scale, it's not as good as a Sound Devices recorder, but it is as good as any Sony or Panasonic broadcast camera I've ever used.

Red One audio (provided it's not one of the earliest bodies which haven't had the second generation audio board replacement) is completely usable in both MIC & LINE level modes, provided you feed it decent audio.

You can use a body mounted mic as a scratch recording for synching to external audio, or feed it a limited output from the external recorder.
