  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet...

I'll be there, on skype, streaming from my mac, taking pictures with my 60d, hovering over RED.com/store

Hi Patrick! I think recon is short for reconnaissance, another word for scouting ahead. Often used in the military for a unit that goes ahead of the main army to see what is coming up. I could be wrong, but that is how I always took it here; seeing what is coming next!

hey sam, thanks for the answer...! that sounds good as an explanation.
I just translated the french "reconnaissance" derived from "reconnaître" to something similar like "recognize" which translates in german to "wieder erkennen" something like recognize / re-recognize / recognize again
and because of that, I didn't find any sense in the use here.
but I didn't think about the military way to use it. so thanks again! everything clear now !!!

Most of us have been paying attention at least thrice a day since you made the Nov 3rd announcement! So come Nov 3rd we will be glued to the monitors all day... Nah all week.

Jannard... I am young and hate wishing away time. But dang, you sure are good at getting me to do it. :hand:

I can't see how Nov. 3rd is going to be worth tuning for. It's so hard to get hyped up with text... maybe a picture to help ease into a blown away state of mind.

AWESOME! Waiting with credit card in hand!!!

Definitely. I am desperately waiting for the update. It will be early morning here in India and I am a late raiser. But I will be awake the whole night as i don't think i will be able to sleep. :-)

This is clearly the most important thing to happen in cinema history. Thanks RED team!! I hope you know how important you are to us. This totally rocks and I, for one, am just absolutely blown away that this is happening. I sense some Emmys and Oscars in the RED teams future, if not better international awards. Imagining all the unhappy sound guys (whose budgets were just eaten by more RED cameras) makes me happy! Incredible moments everyone, remember them.

Will it still look like this I wonder? Under three hours to find out........

I'm waiting with my credit card too, from France ... So that makes 4 november 1am for me :-) Can't wait !!!

And what, exactly, does "recon" and "Scarlet belongs" mean? Certainly not hype, right?
