SO I have a Rode Video Mic from my DSLR kit and tried it with my Scarlet. When plugged into Mic-1 input I get humm and ticking noise.

When plugged into Mic-2 works well.

Not sue if there is a reason for this other than a bad Mic-1 input.

I searched about this mic and found some stuff about it would not work with an Epic because of a balance issue that cancels out the audio, but why would it work in Input 2?

This happened in build 2.05 and after upgrade to 2.08.

Any thoughts?
Anyone else try this mic?

Not what I was looking for Michael, but thanks anyway.

You have to set the mic input ports on Scarlet to unbalanced to use a Rhode Video mic. It outputs unbalanced stereo audio, Scarlet's inputs are balanced mono. Not compatible.

I don't know about your mic, but you need to take two things into consideration:

– Hum can be caused by converting balanced to unbalanced by shorting one side to ground (not recommended). Could it be that you had different settings for balanced/unbalanced on both inputs?

– Phantom power is planned for the Scarlet, but not supported by the firmware yet.

We get good results with an external device supplying phantom to our Røde and then connecting balanced to the Scarlet as temporary solution – these are sold by Kortwich from Berlin. BTW, we measured the Scarlet audio with the help of one of the best audio engineers in Germany (he did sound for "The Life of Others") and it's very good, not far from specialized devices.

Forgive me Bob, perhaps I misunderstand. You are running a Rode Videomic Pro, which has a 1/8" out, into a A-Box adapter?

Does the A-Box have a 1/8" input, I was under the impression that it only had XLR.
