Since it uses genuine Nikon parts, it's not really designed for heavy use (IMHO). There may even be a little play between lens and mount. Hence the reason I went with the Optitek which locks like a PL mount and controls iris.

Matthew at Duclos lenses just turned me onto an easy do it yourself mount swap for Nikon F & G to EF. I ordered these to swap out my ZF.2s to a solid EF mount. Might be worth considering as well since for 5 lens mounts it was under $500. http://www.leitax.com/

a little play between mount and lens. yep. but i´m happy that i can use my old nikon lenses.

cheers

I'm little bit confused with "little play between mount and lens"

I used RED Nikon mount with RED ONE.

Can someone compare these two mounts? Is Cinemods "little play" same as RED Nikon mount or is it worse?

I don't have the Redmods to compare. I just know that the Optitek has zero play. I do know that my Nikon D3 with nikon lenses will exhibit a tiny bit of play. Therefore I'm concluding that the Cinemods mount may exhibit the same issue.

Martin, thanks for this info. It's a good option for us to just change out the mounts and still be able to use the glass we like!

I have to say that this is a bit disappointing. I was thinking of getting this. I understand that they use original nikon parts. Is there play just with one lens or generally with all lenses? It would be good to hear experiences from others who have used this mount.
