  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-X Sensor Crop Calculation Chart

Sorry for the confusion. I was answering two posts (poorly) with one.

See this thread http://www.reduser.net/forum/showth...-Alternative-methods-of-Capturing-Media/page4
and others about 3rd party recording options that MIGHT give you lots of inexpensive storage and a ProRes workflow, without choking your sensor down to 2k . . . if they work. I don't think these have been field-tested yet, since nobody has a camera yet. The ATOMOS Samurai option keeps coming up.

We should all have a lot more answers in the next month.

Thanks Carter,
Apparently there is a black frame around those 3rd party recorder solution... Will see

To work with a 3.9 crop factor at 2K is so frustrating your: 24mm lens becomes a 93.1 mm !

Maybe the 4K setting at high compression rate like 12:1 (or more) might be the solution to avoid heavy files and have easier workflow and not croping.
But I wonder how good this is... It would be nice to know witch 4K compression set up would be near proress HQ quality for instance.

Not sure you can choose higher compression than 6:1 because of 10x less processing power of the Scarlet-X than the Epic-X.
