Hi,

We were on a shoot today and our Scarlet-X just suddenly stopped working. It worked perfectly for a while and then it would not power up again. When plugged into AC or via battery with side handle or V-Lock it always shows the red light indicator but when it is pressed it either does nothing or the red light turns off all together. I am not completely sure which build we were running. If I had to guess, it was the beta 3.3.4 - could have been the latest release version as well.

Anyone with similar issues? Would love some kind of fix on this since our shoots continue on monday :/

Yeah. That was my first step :)

My second step was coming here, just in case this was a problem some other user has had as well. Does the camera have some kind of hard reset or something?

What display are you using? Try booting it without the display attached.

I think when you update the firmware, assuming that it can get through that process, it actually resets everything. Other than that, I don't know of a key-combination that resets the settings upon boot-up.

As of 3.3.x you can press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds when powering up to reset to factory defaults. Keep pressing the power button until the fans kick on full speed.

Thanks,

Have tried pressing the power button for long periods of times but it seems to do nothing. It does not turn on fans or even show any signs of starting up. If powered via side handle, the red power indicator turns off. If powered via AC or V-mount the red power led blinks off but turns back on. Again no signs of turning on. Have tried without any accessories (monitors or even the side handle) as well as with all accessories on.

Hey mate,

I think you might have to file a support ticket with RED to get this sorted out. I had the same problem previously with my Scarlet and it required a trip back to RED to get things fixed. Apparently the fan malfunctioned on mine. Take a closer look to see if the fan actually even spins the moment you pressed the start button. If it does but stops rather quickly then its probably having the same problem as mine. In that case, getting a RMA would be your best option.

Good luck mate!
