  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-X Nikon Mount

How does the iris scale work? It's an unmarked stop-by-stop scale (since every lens would give different starting and end stops)?

The scale is permanently engraved in F-stops.
It is built to be easily calibrated in seconds to any unmodified lens with Nikon mount so you can monitor stops accurately...

John, it's a mount not a mount adapter (if i get it correctly). You'll unscrew the Canon or PL mount that came with the package from the Scarlet's body and screw the OptiTek Nikon mount.
This is correct. And you don't have to "mod" the camera-you just swap mounts like the camera was designed to do.....

Jacek, I am one of the Nikon owners who needs an adaptor. I have old manual and G type lenses. I understood your adapter substitutes the original red canon or pl mount right? It doesnt pass the electronic contacts for canon right? I dont want to buy canon glass, but I would like the AF features on my nikon lenses....

JaceK: DESPIRITELY NEED the new larger gear rings for GATES UNDERWATER HOUSINGS....there is a backup of Nikon mounts needing these ASAP.....when you think you can make a batch? I'm assuming you need to talk with John at Gates....but my guess is at least a dozen to 20.

optitek is really good but if you don't want to mod the camera mount and have a wider lenses catalogue those two worked fine for me in many cases
of course everyone have seen these already
just screw it on the lens u want to use,one is for full manual lenses and other one is for G lenses with control aperture (of course u don't have stop marks)

I was thinking about getting one of these adaptors with an aperture slider before the DSMC Nikon mount is released. Would there be any issue with the aperture control interfering with the locking ring on the DSMC Aluminium Canon mount? Does anyone have a photo of an EPIC using one of these adaptors?

I think I read somewhere that RED have had a more difficult time with the Nikon mount because the aperture control is mechanical whereas Canon's implementation is fully electronic.
