Hello all,

I apologize if this question is a bit premature, but does anybody know if all the Scarlet X brains being traded in for Epics will be sold as BT this year like the Red One's were? I am not necessarily trying to be cheap and score big with as little money as possible, but I do plan on making a Scarlet purchase sometime soon, although there is no immediate hurry. So if the prognosis is that these will be available as BT in a few months, it may make sense to wait before pulling the trigger.

Am I crazy to even think that these would be available BT?

Many thanks!

I too suspect that Red may liquidate them like they did with Red Ones. As for when, who knows lol? Red Ones were around a long time before they did that. Also being that many of the parts with DSMC are probably swappable as per the concept, I wonder if the parts might not end up as spares? Since the form factor of Epic and Dragon is exactly like Scarlet, other then some boosted up specs, I have to wonder how many pieces are potentially salvageable for Red? It could make more sense for them to keep the scrap now versus Red One which the entire form factor was being done away with.

As a former Scarlet owner in either case I hope my camera goes on to a good home, whether in scrap pieces or entirely together as a BT unit. Part of me would like to buy a Scarlet back if they ever sell them BT. But really I think another Epic would be a far better choice for myself, I love the over cranks.

In either case even if Red never sells a BT Scarlet I am sure waiting will just score you more of a discount once MX is no longer sold and Dragons go mainstream. It might take a while but prices will go down. I mean heck if someone told me what I could score a BT Red One or used Red One for now I would of waited probably and just used the old gen model. its hard to not wanna pick one up at these prices

Hi Ben,

I am based out of Chicago. Do you have a listing in the marketplace on this forum or on eBay?

It's on this forum, however I'm based in London - Might be worth you keeping an eye in on the Reduser Marketplace anyway? There are often Scarlet kits selling on there...
