  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-X # 65

Megaupload says that files bigger than 1 Gb can only be downloaded by premium users. Try Wetransfer, up to 2Gb. Thank you.

just need the LCD to start using it...can't wait.

?.... How do you use it? I cant believe it turned up without any form of monitoring ? side grips for batteries? ... Weird. Cant get my head around that one.

I believe all scarlets should be sold as kit form...
Side grip, evf or touch screen, RED VOLTS, cards.. ready to go.... BOOM!! (blades of glory)... !

I don't see any way to use WeTransfer without sending directly to someone using their email address. If you're aware of how to do this, please let me know and I'll try and help. Otherwise, I've gone through and clipped some of the .r3d files, so they should all be around 1GB or less for any posts after this one.

Quick analysis though:

1st Link : <1GB
2nd Link: >1GB
3rd Link: >1GB

Ha, I prefer SHAKE AND BAKE! (Talladega Nights). If I had bought all the pieces at the same time it probably wouldn't have been an issue, but when I put in the order I just wanted to be sure I received the Scarlet early, and the strain on the store at the time was horrible. So I just ordered the rest of the pieces later that evening.

Obviously, I do have the LCD for it now, but am still without any type of handle for it. Very difficult to hold and focus and set controls at the moment, hence the shaky and cumbersome footage. I don't even have a tripod for it yet, but I do plan on getting such things in the near future so I can present much better footage. All these clips are just from waking up at 4:30am and just wanting to actually shoot some sort of footage, despite the glaring equipment omissions. Hopefully everybody who downloads it can at least enjoy messing around a bit in Redcine....though I've seen your footage Toia, I know you have much better clips to be playing around with :-P

Thanks for clipping the r3ds to smaller files. In wetransfer I guess you would send it to yourself, and share the link sent to your email with us. Maibe thats how Michael Millichamp did it.

The question is simple, no school of light needed, I must make i night documentary, the title is "when the lights goes off", street scenarios, people and locals in real light, can be the ScarletX the best answer for this job? Or maybe the FS100?
out resolution is 1080P MTV TV.

Based on my few shots, and other tests and footage I've seen, the Scarlet is fine in available light, as long as there is light. People are complaining about Scarlet's low-light performance, well from what I can see, the available street lights look excellent. Where is the noise in the image? It's in the dark areas, where there is no light whatsoever. As long as you're not filming your documentary in back alleys where street lights are burned out, I think you'll be fine with the Scarlet. I can't speak for the FS100 though.

Congrats Chase! Nice grading...
