  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Didn't want to hijack anybody else's thread, so here's what just came in today!!!

Super stoked, just need the LCD to start using it...can't wait.

Did they give an estimate on LCD or side handle?
That really sucks to have a $10k camera you can't even use.

Haven't heard back on the LCD or side handle yet, but I did order them separately, so just hoping I get them before I head back to the east coast for the holidays.

I don't know if it's the first AL mount posted yet or not...hmmm, would be interesting to look into that more.

Anyway, thanks again all! Looking forward to some awesome footage in the near future!

Congratulations, Chase. I hope you get your accessories soon. Like someone else said, I can imagine it would be frustrating to have a camera you literally can't use... seems no settings can be made/changed without the LCD or side handle.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the Aluminum canon mount - specifically the additional locking ring. If you don't mind giving a few first impressions of those little tidbits that would be awesome, whenever you get the chance.

Peter, thanks, I'm actually jealous of your logo, it's pretty sweet. I'm trying to pin down a fox logo for my new company, but still haven't found just the right one yet.

Brad, I've been back and forth on ideas with a friend in Australia, and I've been postponing due to a lack of a camera. Now hopefully that won't be an issue, ha. It would definitely be cool to come up with another cross-continent production in some way. And your tutorials have been an awesome help, so I may actually be able to contribute something if we ever do work on anything. Just let me know!

Trevor, the Aluminum canon mount feels pretty nice. I only have the 50mm f/1.4 and the 28-135 that came with the 7D to test on it, but they both feel more than secure with the double locking mechanism. Standard Canon lock turn in to place feels normal, using the button to un-lock it as usual, but then that additional locking ring just gives it that much more security. What I like about it is that there are no buttons for it, it just slides either way, and is just so smooth when doing so. Very excited about it.

Any other questions you guys have that I can answer with out being able to power up or use my Scarlet, let me know, ha. Happy to share all I can.

And if anyone is wondering on the immediate plans for the Scarlet (once working), I plan on shooting a few personal shorts projects that will double as tests, as I'm constantly learning the art of cinematography, as well as filming an idea for a commercial for the company I work for.
