To my surprise I received Scarlet #587 today... Never received a shipping notice (that's why I was surprised). Anyhoo, I've been getting to know her real well all evening...

I'm still waiting on the side handle and redmote.

Thanks everyone! I ordered on Nov. 3rd. SO# 50894.

Jeffrey, The matte is a Chrosziel two-stage 4x4 matte box. It's been with me for years but I will probably get a larger matte box this year to take advantage of wider lenses.

I added a video clip to the first post. Shot on Scarlet-X in an attempt to get to know her a little better. Colored in Redcine X Pro.

Congratulations Chris, thanks for sharing the footage.

Thanks for the video, I really like some of the looks you've captured there, nice lens and grading (and music). That Zeiss ZE/Scarlet combo looks pretty good to me, from what I can see of it on Vimeo anyway. How are you finding it? Any focussing or aperture control issues? Do you plan on using any other focal lengths in that Zeiss ZE range, or was this just a one off experiment? If it was a test, what were your conclusions? Sorry for all the questions, just curious.

Thanks Les! I'm happy with Zeiss ZE lenses. In addition to the 50mm, I also own a 21mm f/2.8 and 85mm f/1.4. I've been pretty happy with the lenses, I wish all the lenses were f/2 or faster but that, I suppose, is why people spend 3x or more for cinema lenses. I picked my set up from Duclos Lenses with the cine mod. The focus is very smooth and they all have a good focus throw. I was a one man band the day I shot this so I picked one lens (the 50mm) to minimize my carrying load. I would recommend the ZE or ZF lenses to anyone looking for a starter lens set for Scarlet/Epic or any other large sensor camera. They have a great build quality and the mechanics are great for cinema-like shooting.

Thanks for the extra info. I'd forgotten about those Duclos modded versions of the Zeiss lenses. Glad to hear you're happy with them. Maybe it means we'll see some footage from the 21mm and 85mm lenses as well. :)
