  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet with image stabilization?

One other thing...there has been word about ImageStabilization being on the F-Scarlet. However, I have not heard any specifics on whether or not the RED Mini Primes will have that feature.

PL mount should be an option for Scarlet Cinema to support Super 16 film lenses as well as Arri mount standard 16mm lenses. We don't know for sure at this point, but Scarlet Cinema may take the same interchangeable lens mounts as the Epic series, so Canon, Nikon, and standard PL would also be available for it. Don't know if it will support electronic control of Canon and Nikon lenses like the Epics though. Personally I hope they have designed the mini-PL mount so C-mount lenses can be converted with a simple screw on flange adapter like Bolex did for the EBM.
As I remember, they added 3-axis motion sensor to the cameras so image stabilization could possibly be done digitally in camera software using the overscan area of the sensor. This would work with any lens.
The warp stabilizer in Adobe CS5.5 is pretty amazing though, so you could just as well do this in post if you frame a little wide on your shots.

Thank for the feedback guy

From what i've heard in so many interviews. a lot of peoples want to use their nikon and canon L series on the scarlet. that's why they want to use interchangeable lenses. they are great lenses and scarlet seems to be a great tools. I'm sure people dosen't to pay 12k for a epic ( the lower model) to use thoses lenses.

well let,s hope that RED can find a way to use thoses lenses with the scarlet to be a very powerful tool all together.

a third party could certainly make a mount, but i don't know how much demand there will be. you would think people with thousands of dollars invested in lenses wouldn't be put out to go with the epic, especially considering the huge compromise in field of view with those sized lenses. it's really just a matter of physics for the lenses, they were designed for a certain sized sensor, and are best used around that range. i would not plan around using your canon/nikon lenses on a scarlet brain. if you did want to wait it out for the possible adapter, consider its going to cost quite a bit extra, and you're only going to have telephoto lenses. at that point, i'd either go with the mini primes and other c or b4 mount options, or just go with an epic-s, or whatever you can afford.
