I was going to buy an alternative potentially disruptive cam, the Casio Exilim Pro EX-F1 (so why does a ‘stills’ cam have an ‘audio in’ plug?)
Decided to wait for the Scarlet instead.
I have a wish list of functions I’d like to see on the new Red cam…
Basic edit functions built into the cam.
I have a Canon TX1 (so I’m used to the tall packaging) which also stores on flash cards, and often I need to trim clips to free up memory. Some sort of ‘in the field’ editing is always handy. Trimming the head and tail of clips would be choice, as would ‘split clip at this point.’
Could the control on the back of the Scarlet be adapted to function like a jog dial? The Canon uses a joystick to navigate clips which isn’t ideal.
Time-lapse
This is some time-lapse that I did on a Caplio GX100.

The Caplio will trigger at time slices as small as five seconds apart. This isn’t great for capturing fast moving subjects like people, and I’d like to see intervals at least one second apart on the Scarlet.
This could be easily built into the fps selector. Running the control forward would give options ranging from one to one hundred and twenty frames per second. Run it backwards for single frames captured once per second all the way up to one shot per hour.
My N95 has Wifi. I'd like a camera controller written for my Nokia to control functions like trigger, zoom, and I like to be able to embed GPS from the phone into the Metadata attached to clips.
It would be nice to have the cam generate MP4 ‘rushes’ at 320x240 which could be sent to the phone, and then uploaded to the net (for clients approval, to upload a time sensitive clip, or the soccer mums could send video straight to YouTube.)
Would Wifi be quick enough to send a viewfinder image to the phone for remote controlling?
Could the phone be strapped to the camera and the accelerometer data could be sent to the cam and embedded in the metadata?
Charging batteries ‘in cam’ (like my Nokia) or in an external recharger.
Maybe charging from the USB 2 port? Then we could download clips while recharging the cam.
I can live with attached glass, but it would be nice if the lens could accept screw on filters such as the polarising filter I have for the Caplio.
Real-time highlight clipping indication.
None of these things are ‘deal breakers’ cause it looks like the Scarlet is going to be miles ahead of anything else out there.
