Just shot this for a documentary on ancient records - all natural lighting. Need to know if this is a RED sensor issue like the "black hole sun" issue sometimes seen with Blackmagic cameras, or a lenses issue, i.e. extreme chromatic aberration? This was shot with a Scarlet-W (standard OLPF) at 5K@24 with a 50mm Zeiss ZF lens. Since it's along the edge, it seems to me that's its CA, but I just wanted to be sure.

Thanks everyone!!!

It was a quick and dirty scene so it was recorded directly to 2K Prores (Redcolor 4, Redgamma 4) and the Zeiss ZF was at F.2.8... and yes, after looking at it more today, it definitely seems to be CA.

did it look like that while you were shooting? obviously it's way over exposed.

If it's the Zeiss ZF 50mm 1.4 it's probably CA. This lens is notoriously bad in this aspect, although at 2.8 one would expect it to be a bit more subtle.

As others noted this is a difficult scene, if you check the lower left part of the flame which has less contrast due to the oil lamp in the background being better exposed thanks to the flame, there is almost no CA.

p.s. Focusing is a big part of it, if you focused closer to the flame instead of the fingers, I believe CA wouldn't be so exaggerated.

All good points about it being CA and I totally agree. Just never had a shot with it looking this bad before, but this was indeed a difficult scene. Probabaly should have added additional room light and not had the flame in such focus. At the time though I wasn't thinking about CA issues so I didn't notice in until post. Amateur mistake. Thanks everyone!
