  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W Queue

Unless Red has extended the offer, the cost to move up to Epic-W is an additional $20K over the Scarlet-W; the $10K opportunity was a one-time deal that Jarred said was only available until December 31.
Nope, the offer is back, though not indefinite

Let's do it. If you are a RAVEN deposit holder and want to move to SCARLET-W, contact your rep to have that done. You will keep your original RAVEN pre-order date/time stamp. More info....

Placed an order for SW Base I/O through RED directly in March 2016. A few days after my order, a rep from RED called me and told me I should switch to this certified dealer that was in my region and it would likely be much faster than my direct order. I figured there was truth to this, and made the switch. At that time they were telling me I should be seeing the camera by May. Well, the wait was much longer than that, and I have been being patient and not bent out of shape at all over it. Heard nothing until 11/19/16 when I got an email from the dealer saying RED had allocated my camera, it was ready to ship from RED to them, and they could take my payment. Paid in full within the hour and waited a little over a week expecting a package. When I finally inquired about the status and if I could get a tracking number, the dealer said they didn't know what was going on and they would contact their rep at RED. The info they got from RED was that I was allocated and the camera would be shipping "before the new year" probably earlier.... well, here we are, almost two months later, no camera, dealer says RED is giving them vague information.

I have a big month of shooting approaching rapidly, and was wondering if anyone knew what the hell was going on? I almost feel like I'm being messed with or something. Never had a buying experience quite like this. Help!

Sorry to hear that Bobby. Paying over $10,000 to be stonewalled for two months is insanely unprofessional. What dealer is local to Montana?

Yeah.... I just want to know what the hold up is/whats going on.

And the dealer is out of Utah. Not many RED's up here in MT haha!

What exactly is the purpose of a dealer? Internationally, I get it, but does RED really benefit from selling in bulk to a dealer when they're having such trouble keeping up with demand? Do dealers get a discount? Please excuse my ignorance :)

I placed my order for the Scarlet-W package, through AbelCine, on 4/26/2016. They estimated I'd have the camera by June, but we all know that that didn't happen. Last I heard was that I might have it by the end of 2016, depending on how many shipments they received from RED. Still waiting.

Still no delivery even though you ordered from a dealer last April? Wow. Guess I should really start to curb my expectations.

I've been saving for a long time to get the latest RED Dragon camera, and the time is finally come to me. I'll order a Scarlet-W with the Dragon 5K on this month hoping to shoot with it on March, very-very excited like a little kid!! But then I realized that so many people are still waiting for their allocation, let alone shipping, far beyond the expected time estimation. My dealer said I'll probably get it on May-June or I might want to upgrade to Epic-W and get the camera sooner, a very good idea really.. But then, I will go for Helium and skip the Dragon, the sensor that I've dreamed of for years, that I spent a lot of time researching and watching countless Shot On RED (Dragon) online, the historical Jim Jannard's 'accomplished mission' sensor...!

Maybe I just need to start researching more about the Helium, learn to embrace the 8K workflow, start to loving the new sensor and saving even more to get the Epic-W (good bye, budget for cine lenses..)
Either way it takes time, I still have to tell the inner kid in me there is no RED on March... :(

I placed my order with Abelcine in early August. I hadn't heard anything from them until I asked them if I was getting the camera by the end of November. When I placed my order in August it was stated that I'd be delivered by late fall 2016. That's the reason I asked. Then they said that the expected delivery time was early 2017. I was a little mad and I told them that they should at least act like they give a shit and let me know. If I didn't ask I wouldn't even know. They said the person who took my order quit. So what difference does it make? Isn't there anybody who takes care of stuff after somebody leaves the job? Anyway last week I de died to cancel my order and buy a used Red Epic Dragon instead. I have projects waiting for this camera for so long. Is it my mistake to wait for a camera? Yes it is. However I didn't know it would take this long. I sent an email to them yesterday and asked them to cancel my order. Today I'm confused again. After reading Jarred's post saying that they are shipping Scarlet W's more than ever I wrote to Abelcine again to ask I'd like to know if they had any idea when I'd receive the camera before cancelling my order. So I'm sure Abelcine is a great company. However I haven't experienced it personally. They have my order number and they must know what number the last person they deliver had. So it's be great to get a guestimated delivery time. If they don't give me an honest answer this time I'll cancel for sure and I will never ever deal with that company again. Also I won't take any company's expected delivery time seriously for sure. Oh on top of that I feel like somebody on reduser tried to scam me yesterday. I'm not %100 sure that's why I won't give a name but this person offers a super good Red Epic deal. We agreed for a price and he asked me to do bank transfer to his account. I didn't want to do that because if I did I wouldn't be protected if he doesn't deliver the package. I told him that I'd be willing to pay paypal fees if he agrees to receive the money by paypal. He agreed but he asked me to send it as friend and family instead of paypal goods and services. He said if I do that I wouldn't have to pay the fees. I said I'd like to pay the fee and send it for goods and services to be protected by paypal. He said ok. After I made the payment he refunded it right away and asked me to send it as family and friends again. Anyway. Sounded so fishy so I told him good luck with the sale. I'm not saying he is a scammer but I suspect. Why would you push me to send it as family and friends. Also he has reduser membership just for a couple of weeks. I'm scared somebody will fall but again I can't be sure he is a scammer. Anyway frustrating times for me. Hopefully Abelcine will get back to me with some good news.

Hey Osman,

I ordered my camera on Abelcine as well. Go on yelp and leave a review. I left one on the burbank office's yelp. I had the same experience. Abelcine is the worst. I will never use them again for buying ANY-THING. you can go on their burbank Yelp and see my review. :(. At the least they can inform you with what's going on with your purchase. EVEN if they don't have any new news.

terrible business practices.

I'm relieved to find that I'm not the only one to have this experience with AbelCine. I was starting to think that I'd somehow fallen through the cracks, but it's apparent now that this isn't the case.

I first talked to them at NAB 2016, after a representative from RED recommended I order through them. They seemed like great guys, so I placed my order for the Scarlet-W package as soon as I got home. It took them forever to confirm my order, and multiple emails before they finally processed my deposit. They didn't even have my money yet!

Every time I've asked for an update, it's taken at least two emails for them to respond. I've always had to spam multiple email addresses to get a reply from just one of them. The last message I got from them was back in November, when I inquired about receiving the camera before the end of the year (kind of crucial, regarding taxes). They didn't know. Keep in mind, I placed my order in April and was originally told I receive it by June.

I messaged them 9 days ago looking for any sort of update. Nothing. Messaged them again, 3 days ago. No reply.

It's not like I'm pestering them every week. I only ask for an update every 1-2 months or so, and we all know they're never the ones reaching out. Absolutely horrible communication.

Don't worry man. RED is exactly the same, and when you do get an answer it's a generic copy-paste message that has nothing to do with your original mail. In a few days I'll be waiting for 1 year and 2 months for mine with no delivery in sight.

OMG.. Have you been waited that long for a Scarlet-W or a Raven? Did you order through a dealer or RED.com?
I'm in horror as I'll put my SW deposit by the end of this month.. Can't even imagine how long will I get my camera now...
C'mon RED!

Many steps have been taken to get SCARLET-W camera orders out faster.

I've been seeing a lot more cameras on social media, the Epic-W program has most definitely helped. I'm sure the cameras are being made available as fast as humanly possible, hang in there its worth it.
