  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W Queue

Looking at the google doc que theres a much larger % discrepancy between allocations and cameras recieved. Naturally I'd expect allocations to be a higher percentage but this is a big variance. I assumed allocation meant your camera is literally sitting ready to ship. Anyone know why such a massive variance? Or what allocated actually means? Just trying to understand. I would have thought once allocated it'd be a week max to get the camera... I know some are getting them soon after allocation, other still waiting after 4 or more weeks which just confuses me more.

We had our Scarlet-W shipped within 3 days of getting allocated. Ordered in April, Delivered in October.

Many of the people I see waiting long to receive an order after allocation appear to be foreign orders (outside the USA). Maybe I'm wrong. Also there may be differences between those paying in full vs those financing etc...

It gets a little confusing because there are packages and brain only orders. When a brain becomes "allocated" I believe the order is processed and payed for, however if accessories like base I/O or a case are out of stock they must wait. I don't think they can send out incomplete "package" orders. This could account for some of these instances.

Also I wouldn't put too much stock in the user made spread sheets. Doesn't represent the number of cameras we are talking about

So you allocated 2 days after ordering?

WOW.

Haha yeah to my surprise too. Jeremy over at Drone Nerds called me that morning and said "youre about to have a good thanksgiving" and we went on form there. Coincidentally, just minutes after I got off the phone with him a Bomb Squad rep gave me a call in regards to my quote that I had request a day before I decided to order through Drone Nerds. He was pleasantly surprised when I told him that I had just been allocated, after that he mentioned that being the way to go because had I put a deposit in that day through Red/Bomb Quad, he said I'd be waiting tell around Spring/Summer of 2017, SOONEST. .

If there's any advice I can give new purchasers, literally go on the Red site and look at all their authorized dealers, I mean its not a massive list, and just select one that suits you. Some accept PayPal, some have financing options, some are old school, some international.. just Call a few of the flavors and have a chat. *Hint go for the dealers that advertise a lot on FB etc.. Some of them have made instagram posts even, of when they've received brains.

allocated last week ,(trough innocinema USA ) paid today , waiting for it now :chillpill::chillpill::chillpill::chillpill::sifone:

Allocated today (through dealer), Paid today. Now for a new waiting game. hahaha!!

When I placed my Raven order over a year ago, I never expected it to be this hard. At the end of October - when no one had heard of new Raven allocations since September - we decided to take the upgrade path to the Scarlet-W while keeping our original Raven timestamp of 5 december 2015.

But apparently RED is against us upgrading with a dealer because when our dealer inquired, he was denied the order. Meanwhile my rep cannot be bothered to reply to my mails. But when he does answer my mails - he answers with a completely irrelevant copy-paste about a completely different camera. The worst part was when he asked me to confirm my Scarlet-W switch order, he said he could ship straight away! Of course we confirmed the order. Turns out he was talking about the Epic-W once again. The reason I needed a camera asap is because we have the money for the camera ready - however when the end of the year comes around we will be taxed on this sum of money just laying around in our account. Our RED is about to become 30% more expensive. And yet according to my rep it's impossible for RED to send us an invoice in advance.

Meanwhile I've been sitting on the #1 spot on the "unofficial S-W queue" for over a month while people who ordered through dealers are getting allocated left and right.

This is the worst customer experience I've ever had.

Pieterjan,

I feel your pain. It's very weird, this situation. We also are about to have to pay 30% more for our Scarlet-W, due to the end-of-year tax situation, and it is maddening to see so many people who ordered 6 months or more later getting their cameras, while we have been waiting since December.

I want to stay with RED, but I am wavering, big time. This delay is far worse than the delay I had when I got my first RED One.

P

At least I'm not alone. Meanwhile I'm still waiting for a reply from my rep. Guess he didn't feel like working for the past 7 days.

no need to insult the people who are here to help you out Pieterjan. doesn't do anything for ya. If you feel like you are not getting the attention you need, it is probably a better idea to call during business hours and ask politely for some assistance.

Matthew, I never meant to insult anyone. What makes you think I was not polite? How is that even relevant? All I want right now is my invoice.

So my rep finally reached out to us.

The RAVEN queue waiting times have been unfortunate, I have just send another email to management, and your timestamp date suggests that you should be in the next batch of 2017 allocations.

Thank you for your patience, and we will have some good news for you in the New Year.

... except that I upgraded to the Scarlet-W back in October. Sigh. Atleast Raven orders now know there won't be any more allocations this year.

I had originally put the deposit on a Raven and got my confirmation that I was added to the allocation for Spring 2017. I contacted my rep and told them that Iw as thinking of switching over to the Scarlet-W and asked him on the delivery time difference. He said that I would probably get the Scarlet-W sooner than the Raven simply because there are "A Lot" more orders ahead of me for the Raven, but that they are officially telling everyone Early 2017-Spring 2017 for both cameras. So who knows, just glad to be in the process and become a Red owner, but would love to get my hands on either as soon as possible :)

Just got word my SW I/O package is getting shipped out to me today or tomorrow :-) Presume it's already at RED EU in London in which case i'll get it on Monday!!! Perfect timing to get used to it over the Christmas break! So excited to get shooting on it!

It arrived at my parents house today!!! So will get to finally put it to use when I visit them this weekend to pick it up :-)

I ordered the Raven package on 11th December 2015, then switched to SW package on 19th November 2016. Allocated about 2 weeks ago.

Thought this day would never come :-) Super happy!

Please forgive me if this has been asked/answered before, but I couldn't find it.
I'd like to place an order for a scarlet-w but I'm concerned about having to wait for 10-12 months to get it, hypothetically there may be better/cheaper alternatives by then, so my question is:
once allocated, can you step back and get a full refund?

New Scarlet-W orders are expected to ship in Spring 2017. The Scarlet-W deposit is $USD1000 and is refunded if you cancel your order. Out of courtesy, if you're going to cancel your order you should do it before being allocated, but if something else turns up suddenly after you've been allocated, you should still be able to arrange for a refund of your deposit.
