Finally I received my Scarlet-W few days ago and today I had some time to test it on some event. For some reason info and settings bars on the lcd randomly jumping up and down over the screen!? When I power camera everything is fine, but after some time these bars start moving over the screen. Why does it happening?

I have had the same issue a few times. Filed a support ticket and sent log files, but haven't received a definitive answer to the issue. File a ticket to red with log file, so they can get a fix, hopefully via firmware.

whoa, weird, is this on the newest firmware?
i havent had any issues with mine but im still on the firmware that was delivered with the camera, before even dnxhd was an option.

I connected my new Red Touch to my new Scarlet-W and got no picture, no info... just a feint blue screen. Did some troubleshooting with tech support, ended up having to send both the camera and the Red Touch back for inspection. I'm waiting to find out the cause...

I've had similar issues. Sometimes the screen was garbled with bright white'ish static. Other times there was a diagonal "tear" in the image" Other times it just wouldn't show anything... using the 7" DSMC2 touch.

i've had various issues with mine as well. From not turning on to flickering, to lagging when panning quicker than normal. Not very happy.

Also I'm really disliking the LCD lack of the swivel function. I miss being able to turn the monitor around to face me if filming oneself. No LEMO is nice I guess but I miss the flexibility...

These issues mostly have to do with the connection pins on the LCD, check to see if you have any pin damage or any debris stuck onto the pins. I had a piece of foam stuck on mine from the case and had similar issues

One thing I keep thinking about is, When I record R3D + Prores sometimes my 5" touch lags a little when im setting up a shot. I've heard recording both at the same time takes more power.. makes sense, maybe makes things hotter too. I wonder if anyone has tried so see the difference between recording straight R3D as opposed to dual codecs and how that effects the new displays

I just sold my SmallHD and am about to pull the trigger on a DSMC2 monitor, and these seemingly endless LCD threads are terrifying me. I'm leaning towards the 7", as I'm just accustomed to that size now, plus I want the added hinge.

I guess my question is, is the heat issue isolated to the 4.7", or the 7" as well?

For $3k.... man, seems like a risky proposition. lol

Nathan, so far I've only heard of the heat issue with the 4.7" touch screen. I have a 4.7" and it does get very hot. I also had the screen issue where the bottom of the display is remapped erroneously to the top. This was fixed when RED support suggested switching the refresh rate from 60 to 30.

The 7" looks really nice. Me? I'm saving up for their new EVF :)

Dragan, if this happens again, RED support advised me to change my monitor refresh rate from 60hz to 30hz. Seems to fix things.

I had to send my monitor and camera back two times. First it was a stain under the screen (probably a oil leak) then the second one was very hot, after 20 min was even impossible to touch...now Im without camera :(

Me thinks that the 7" doesn't encounter these heat issues (at least none that I have heard of) since it sits up a bit higher than the 4.7 and the fans essentially are blowing hot hair straight up. Seems logical, but may not be the issue.

And here I am, just received my RED Raven and using the 4.7" DSMC2 and after seconds of use, lines start appearing more and more noticeable, similar to a fixed noise pattern, until it engulfs the frame. No issue of image through SmallHD output. Tried both connection points on the camera and same problem. Very disappointed with RED at the moment. It's kind of ridiculous to release product like this for the price it is with this lack of R&D.
