Hey guys,

I've been following all the threads on Helium, and I never seen a conclusion if the Scarlet-W would be upgradable to Helium or not. Anyone catch the answer? If it's still unknown, anyone have their thoughts on it?

I won't be surprised if S-W ends up moving to a Helium cut just to get around the apparent yield issues.

That would be awesome! But if it was a cut then SW would no longer be super 35 which would be a bummer... Maybe Helium with different data rates.

Oh man that would be cool! Maybe the same size cut but in helium. Making it 6.8k FF if my math skills are right lol.

Which would put the S-W crop factor at about the equivalent of s16. I'm not interested in a 5ks16 camera.

Except for very rare use cases, I can't fathom why anyone would want Helium 5K. Just because it's new and shiny, doesn't mean it's practical.

Exceptions obviously apply, but doubtfully in large enough numbers to warrant mass manufacture.

Perfect doc/broadcast/reality lens use camera. I'd love to see that. The optics available at S16 are definitely appealing for a number of uses.

Everyone's assuming it would still be 5K. I'd assume it would be the same proportional cut as the current S-W gives you on the Dragon sensor. Whatever that works out to.

w/out a (costly?) upgrade to processing boards, a 6.8K S35 helium cut inside Scar-W may lead to unpleasant compression options

I wonder where Epic-W will land price wise. I'm thinking it has to be less than StormTrooper Helium 8k S35 ($60k) and considering that Weapon CF 6K is $60k, now where would that put helium at considering the current line up.
