Can anyone confirm if setting up the Scarlet-W to REDWideGammaRGB and Log3G10 in-camera and onset is best way to dial the exposure to make life easier on post and also to get the best out of the sensor data?

Also interested to hear from experts on this! I'm currently shooting and exposing predominantly in Redgamma4 Dragon color 2. Exposing to the right (avoiding clipping).
But always converting to ipp2 in post and grading from there. Either utilising the ipp2 luts (mostly low contrast, highlight roll off 2 or 4 depending). Or, I use filmconvert ipp2 profile as a base and grade from there if I'm going for a more textured film look.

Just to be clear, the Scalet-W doesn't support IPP2 in camera. You can use RWGRGB and L3G10 but it's actually a little trickier (than not using it) as you need to place a LUT over the image for Monitoring. Really it comes down to what you are most comfortable with as its just metadata, the variation between RWGRGB/Lg310 and says Dragon color 2 / RG2 in terms of exposure is very mimimal and I havn't noticed anything sygnificant when in a grade. I have worked both ways, But decided to go for the older method for a show I just shot, as it was just easier. (The show was finished in IPP2 after the fact)

So, what i can understand is that RWGRGB/Lg310 is merely a look in camera on Scarlet-W . I guess with r3d, it really doesn't matter what we set on camera as they relate for monitoring purpose only. We can always set the profile in Resolve or Red Cinex-Pro beta and work from there.

Yes, that's basically correct. It does still go some really nice stuff with mapping out of Gamut colors, but the real power is in post. Also if you use the beta 50 RCX b4 you will get the latest processing which results in sharper images and better highlight roll-off. - Graeme and team have done some amazing work here.

Yes, i have downloaded the latest beta firmware and CineX beta which defaults to RWGRGB/Lg310. I am more use to Davinci Resolve, which makes me wonder if i should be setting the "Camera Raw" to RWGRGB/Lg310 and then grade from there.

Yes. Start there, but add RED LUTs to Resolve (on OSX it's /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/LUT). For extra fun, add Phil Holland's philmcolor v1 LUTs, too!

Thanks, i have Filmconvert with IPP2 profile installed and VisionColor LUTs for Redlogfilm -> Rec709 and other film stock. I will look into Phil's which is bit expensive :)
