We haven't gotten our Scarlet-W yet and I keep getting conflicting information online so I finally have to ask here - sorry if this is posted somewhere else already. Simply, I need to know if the Scarlet-W can shoot 5K full frame @ 60fps? The SW spec page says "60 fps at 5K 2.4:1" but I see other spec sheets that claim it can shoot 5K FF @ 60 with higher compression. This seems to be a contradiction?

According to RED.com, max is 50 fps at 5K FF. As I understand it, it's all about the vertical resolution which is why you get more fps at 2.4:1. Doubtful that 60 fps at 5K FF is possible.

Thanks Terry, and I see what the specs say at RED, but as stated before, I've seen contradicting specs states that 5K FF @ 60 is done with higher compression. Just hoping that someone that has a Scarlet-W can confirm this or not.

I'm curious because we do quite a bit of slo-mo filming and of course we get less vertical resolution on the Raven shooting at 4.5K FF (which is a different FF aspect than the SW sensor) but we can still shoot at 120fps. not sure, but with the Scarlet, it seems though we may actually have to sacrifice even for FOV if we have to crop the secsor down to 5K 2.4:1 or even 4K to get the same 60 or 120fps? If that's true, then we may be better just sticking with 2 Ravens...

5K FF is max 50fps. 50.85 technically.

WS can hit 60fps though.

(I have my camera right here beside me checking for you)

Nathan, thank you VERY much. It's much appreciated.

UPDATE: For those of you curious and shooting both with Ravens and Scarlets, our SW finally showed up and I can confirm that 4.5K FF on the SW does indeed have more vertical resolution than 4.5K FF on the Raven. This could be important for those needing added vert flexibility for stabilizing gimbal footage vs 5K WS which still only has 2160 vert lines (the same as 4.5K FF on the Raven). So there's definitely an advantage here with SW.
