Hope you guys can help.

I'm seeing some tearing on my 4.7inch screen. Usually it's fine when the camera and monitor are cold. But now I'm beginning to see this diagonal tearing even when the camera is cold. Changing resolution does not help. Reboot will sometimes clear it. But the issue is getting progressively worse. Also tried upping the refresh rate of the LCD but still no joy :(

What I'm seeing is a diagonal 45 degree tear across the screen. It appears at different location on the LCD. External monitoring is fine and so is the recording. Hoping there is a solution to fix this before I submit a ticket with RED.

The camera is out on a job over the weekend and I will post some video or stills of what I'm seeing as soon as the camera comes back.

The camera is 2 weeks old and I'm assuming for now that it's running the latest firmware. But I will check that when it comes back in to us.

Thanks in advance.

Surinder.

I sometimes have screen tearing issues on my dsmc1 Dragon. And usually it is related the to the Lemo cable being bent in an awkward direction.

Maybe the problem is similiar on DSMC2? Meaning it's not the screen, but the connector?

Thanks for your reply Marcus I will have a look at the connectors make sure they are clean and that I'm tightened down nicley on the screws that mate the LCD to the body.

Hey All,

After updating my Scarlet-W to IPP2 Beta I noticed significant tearing on screen. After reviewing I saw that the tearing actually baked into the footage and deemed it unusable. I do not suggest updating to the beta. I actually reversed and went back, it seemed to fix the issue. I've brought it up to Dan Duran at RED and he says it's extremely rare and we're going to review it together. If you've gotten IPP2 I highly suggest doing a test first and making sure your footage is fine.

I'm on an older revision of firmware, unable to check the exact one as I'm away from the camera, but I found a work around without having to re boot. I just changed the refresh rate of the screen lower and that helped. Eventually the tearing will reappear but them switching to a higher refresh rate will sort the issue out. So when the issue appears I just keep alternating the refresh rate to remove the tearing. The tearing was not recorded to the file in my case.

Hope this little tip work for others experiencing screen tearing issues.
