  • S35 or bigger sensor
  • Wavelet type "RAW" codec, able to record to 600x CF cards without dropping frames
  • 3K or higher resolution
  • Auto focus, several modes. Hybrid touch to focus manual mode. Face tracking.
  • 60 fps or more at full res. Higher is better.
  • interchangeable lens mount
  • Image stabilization in camera
  • Built in quality stereo microphone
  • 5-7" 720p+ Monitor solution with histogram and sensor clip data
  • 720p+ monitor signal, while maintaining signal on onboard monitor
  • ND filters
  • GPS tagging
  • Remote control (actual framing support screen huge bonus)
  • At least 1h recording capacity in handheld configuration (no external monitor)
  • Weather sealed body

2 XLR connections for external mics would be nice!

That is what the I/O module is for...

The front module is the I/O module I believe.

Has there been any news on the Pro I/O Module? The last thing I could find about it is 2 years old. Of course if I had a waffle maker I may not care about sound. ;)

Sounds sort of like an Epic :-)

I'm afraid you're kind of right...

Looking at Epic, for my needs, I would trade some resolution for bigger photo sites on sensor to maximize low light capability and DR. It would also make post a little bit easier on the computer, and allow for more practical storage.

I'm frankly a bit concerned that there might not be stabilization or ND filters.

If you need a rig for steady tele shots and you have to pimp it out with a matte box and filters, it kind of makes the run n gun format of a fixed Scarlet "not as flexible".

And if I feel I need to rig it out like that, I think it would bother me quite a bit that I can't go under f2.4. With a 2/3" sensor it would be really great to be able to go to f1.8 or even f1.4

Well if the Interchangeable is still planned with mini primes you'll have these at your disposal for $950 per lens...

  • 6mm T1.5
  • 8mm T1.5
  • 16mm T1.5
  • 25mm T1.5
  • 50mm T2.9
Regarding Matteboxes...there is a good picture of a 3D kit I think Joseph took a shot of once, and it was still tiny looking. That is the setup I'm hoping comes out honestly. I love the 2/3 format, throw in those mini primes, and a PL or Canon mount to take advantage of the crop factor of RED or Canon lenses would be perfect I think.

The waffle side mount. You know it makes sense!

Ha... As long as it takes the REDVolt XL's I'm in. I get hungry when I shoot. You know speculation is driving us all crazy when Waffle Irons are being added on as accessories. What's next... a Deep Fryer? Built in Jet Pack?

Jetpack, oh come on! That is so RED lol
Jannard jetpacking into to the NOV 3rd announcement all Stark enterprises -Iron man style would just fit perfectly :)

Sorry Andree, no more thread jacking... with all my waffle.
Very late here in AUS now - time for bed and an end to another day of Scarlet addiction.
Good night gentemen.
