Hello all! A quick question. Is there a page I can go to that has all of the latest scarlet specs and info? I know 'everything is subject to change', but it would be nice to hit one page and always know that it contains the latest, most up-to-date info regarding Scarlet. If there isn't such a page, why not? Trying to find the latest info means surfing through thousands of posts. For instance, I think at one point the lens filter size of Scarlet fixed was given. But searching for "scarlet lens filter size" gives me 244 posts I have to go through to find the info (and since the entire post isn't shown I could easily miss it). Plus, there's the additional benefit that a "specs page" would prevent (or at least help minimize) people asking the same Scarlet questions over and over. Can we get such a page? Please?

Nah, sounds like a job for Red, or guys with 900+ posts. ;)

Seriously though, there are guys here who know all this stuff (well sometimes even they get it wrong and have to be corrected by Jim or Jarred), so why not stuff it all in a sticky? Jim & Jarred can comment on any corrections needed, then from there on the moderators can update whenever there is significant info to do so. I'm the last guy you want doing this, trust me.

Essentially it has to come from RED simply because So many people believe everything they read on here, and then it pops up all over the web. There used to be a spec sheet up on Red website but has been removed I believe.

Red has not put anything up because they are not ready to. They have in the last few months taken a step back from releasing such information, however due to the timing and Epic in the dawning months of being released there will be an announcement of the specs and pricing. My feeling is that NAB will be a good time for them to do it, as well as a release date.

That is of course Speculation on my part.

By NAB we should have all the locked down specs in our hands. Mind you, I doubt they'll update the Monstro specs since they are probably constantly evolving and will for quite some time, but EPIC/Scarlet is supposed to be shipping at some capacity by then and that pretty much assures that we'll have some sort of spec sheet.

Originally there were a thread or two counting "What we know about Scarlet.." but all that info has pretty much been obsoleted more or less.

Please stop opening new threads asking for "specs, price or availability" : you will have to wait for RED to officially announce all these.

If you click here http://www.red.com/press/media and scroll to the Scarlet section and click "read more", you will get some info from RED.

I agree with you completely though.... every change, spec and announcement made by a RED team member should be added to a sticky for each product. The info is spread out everywhere, sometimes on completely irrelevant threads.

Here is Jarred's quote on the fixed Scarlet filter size: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?p=501825#post501825

Thanks for the info! I couldn't find it.

Which is exactly why such a sticky is needed. If the information is accurate and vetted (with the understanding it could and probably will change), then where's the harm in that?

LOL! Thank you for proving my point exactly. Such a sticky would stop (or at least reduce) such requests.

Thanks for the info! The thing is, Red/Jim HAVE put out a ton of info, and it's scattered all over this forum. That info came directly from Jim and Jarred, so it's not speculation. All I'm saying is it would be nice to have it in one place for easy access. Oh well, I guess it's too much to ask.

Oh well, I guess it's too much to ask.

It's really not too much to ask. I have thought about doing it myself a couple of times, but the time sink is rather extreme. As has been said: the information is all over the forum, there is a ton of said information, and whatever gets put in such a FAQ thread will probably be taken as gospel by some readers regardless of warnings. That's a tricky combination and a lot of responsibility.

That being said, if RED doesn't start such a thread regarding Monstro, I certainly will. And it'll probably happen soon, what what information we do know is still fairly limited.

I do understand all the reasons they pulled back from announcing spec lists and prices so long before they're final. Up until now. Considering that Epics are already shipping and how close Jim says Scarlet is...I find it hard to believe things aren't locked and ready for announcement.

my guess is everything is locked but that they are awaiting the special announcement to unveil all the juicy details... its really great having an open system for communication with what features we want, but it is a double edged sword the other firms get a heads up too on whats down reds pipeline. i think until its ready to ship things will remain quiet. red is aware of the huge demand they probably are making hundreds of them already so that they won't be caught off guard without enough of them to satisfy the public...i mean with such a cheap price point these things are going to be the new VX! i am confident all the stupid skateboarders will be using them in no time (myself included)...:yesnod:

I also think that announcing this far in advance of release might leave more time for people to complain and ask for further changes, even if they're told the features/specs are locked.

Considering how long after RedOne's release, to say nothing of announcement, the competition is still building 1080p 35Mbps cameras and charging high 5 or even low 6 figures for them...I'm not convinced those dinosaurs would know what to do with the information if they got it.

But not giving them the chance is probably still a good move, I guess.

I think it is more like Red will tell us when they know themselves what the final specs will be. Most things hardware related are locked, but software is still in flux and that can have significant impact on performance specs. It can take a while to figure out just how far you can really push the hardware before problems occur.

I expect that some features won't work or work fully on release and that Red will fully implement them and possibly even new features after release.
