I have an older Scarlet - X and when I'm shooting outdoors and pointing towards the sun, i get a red dot pattern across the image. The guys at RED told me that its obviously the sensor suggested i use ND filters so could open the iris on my lens and that might go away. HOWEVER i was shooting with COOK S4 and ND .9 and .3. Still have the issue. I have the same issue with any lens i put on the camera. My friend has the same issue with his Scarlet RED says there is nothing they can do about it. ANYBODY have any suggestions. I can't believe that i can't shoot outdoors into the sun. Why did i pay so much for a camera that is SO limiting? my 5D has no issues with sensor dots. Any body else have this issue with the camera?
Thanks for suggestions.
cheers

And have a Infrared cut filter for those higher ND strengths.

And just to add to this as well.... Everyone has nailed it so far. This is an issue with ALOT of digital cameras when you stop down and point towards a bright source. Please don't think that it's subject to A camera. It all has to do with the wonders of physics, light rays, angles, reflections, and OLPF's. So please don't mistake this as a Scarlet issue, it is much wider than that.
