Scarlet & Samurai FTW

I've been reading about the Sony F3 and the their slog upgrade that outputs to ProRes. I'm also hearing about Alexa users outputting to Prores and never using RAW. My question is, does the Samurai convert the RAW files to prores, or will it output the current colorspace config to Prores. My thinking is that if we set the Scarlet to say, RedLogFilm, the Samurai would essentially give us the same highlight protection the Slog upgrade provides on the F3..

Any of that making sense? I'll be testing this anyway next week when our Samurai arrives, but I'm just curious if anyone has looked into this..

The external recorder is recording the output of the Epics SDI. This is a 1080 SDI signal, its not a RAW file. The recorder will recorder whatever look you set to play out of the SDI output.
Its not possible to record RAW data any other way except R3D's

What about clip replacment? Right now, the Samurai doesnt record the same clipnames from the Scarlet, but someone had posted a workflow with the Samurai, allowing for easy clip replacment with the r3d files.. damned if I can find it though...

Clipnames.... That would make it just about about perfect...

Who wants to rename clips by hand? If you need matching clip names right now, go PIX 240.
