  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet S35 vs RED ONE

Thing which should be nice to know is if we keep the RED ONE and upgrade the sensor for the one which is in the SCARLET S35... (upgrade program stated by Jim)

Does we have more features unlocked with this new Sensor... such as 5K for instance ... more FPS at low K ...etc..
Those informations are missing, Beside of dynamic Range what this upgraded sensor will bring to the RED ONE if we compare it to the SCARLET S35 (which is not as expensive as the R1)
I think it could be nice from RED to get a brand new Firmware unlock more juicy features for people who have upgraded to new Sensor of the R1...

Another question remain ?
If we don't want to take the EPIC S35 or SCARLET S35 and we still want to buy the R1 could we be able to get it from RED with new already included ?..

I think a lot of the limitations for the new sensor in the R1 will be due to current processor capabilities in the R1. If the processor is upgraded at the same time, then you may be able to get some of those features, but a lot of the current max-outs on the One are due to processing.

I thought that RED where using only 80% of the R1 processor ... hehe ...Maybe I'm too much in love with this camera ...
Hope this point will be clarified someday by RED because for now I'll hold myself to get into the online store and buy a R1 until I have more informations about R1 upgrades and what sensor will bring to R1 beside better dynamic Range
Or maybe I'll have to wait for the Scarlet S35 and see which one is better...

Yeah.

And I don't believe the processing CAN be upgraded much because of overheating limitations. Just speculation though.
