Hey everybody,

I have a question:

If I was to build a RAID array for edition RED ONE or future Scarlet footage, how high would the datarate provided by the array have to be?

What are you using right now?

I'm all ears! :bigear:

Thank you,
Fx

Hi everybody !

First post on reduser, even if I've been visiting it once a day for nearly 2 years now. I think it's just an awesome community and the best place to gather everything-RED knowledge :)

I'm currently building up a PC editing system and I was wondering the same thing. Any clue about that matter ? I was thinking about a RAID 5 setup, is it appropriate or will it be too slow ?

My goal is to be able to edit native RED footage on both Avid (probably DNx/relink route on Avid) and Adobe CS platforms. I just build a system around the new INTEL i7 2600k (asus P8P67 Deluxe Mobo, 8GB ram 1600, nVidia GTX 480 for MPE, SSD for OS and applications...). Will I be able to get real time RED editing on Premiere with that setup ?

Thanks !

sorry I slightly drifted from the original question....

Isn't 8GB of ram too small? Check this link to the Adobe forums re building a PPro CS5 system:
