Hello everyone,

I have only started following the Scarlet a couple months ago, but I seem to recall a rumor that the prices for these cameras are going up in January. Can anyone confirm if this is still the case? I am wondering if I should buy a Scarlet now, even though I do not plan to use it professionally for another year. If the prices are inevitably going up, the answer seems obvious.

The side handle & REDMOTE prices are going up in january.
 
Not the actual camera?
 
I would assume that as the price of the Scarlet-X was never previously given, that it already factors in the increased component costs that pushed up all the other electronic bits.

Order before the end of the year. Next year, the price drops to $9700 for the brain only. The AL CANON EF MOUNT or DSMC SSD SIDE MODULE will not be included.
 
The Price *is* going up. Come January, the SSD drive and the Canon AL mount won't be included. To compensate, the price of Scarlet Brain goes down $50 >_<

So, if you wait until January to order, you have to shell out an extra $2950 to get the same gear.
 
The intro price package with the side handle and SSD side module is only good till the end of the year.
Then the brain price alone, no side handle, no SSD module is $9700.00

Bottom line, get your order and deposit in by end of the year for a very good deal.
After first of the year, side handle is $1750, and side SSD module is $1500.

This makes me happy, kind of like I got my camera on sale or something... Lol

But all in all, I can see why the price for the modules will be going up.
 
By my calculation if you get the bundle now vs Jan 1 the price difference will be $3250 or about 21%.

If you are unhappy with your scarlet-x next year you will probably be able to sell it used for about the same price as you pay today.

Just want to clarify here before anyone get's too excited, the $9750 Scarlet X (pre-2012) does NOT include a side handle. It includes the SSD module and Canon aluminum mount. I wish...

Along these same lines, does anyone know if there is sales tax when purchasing from Chicago IL? I completely forgot about sales tax!
 
at red.com the $14k package show a DSMC handle and lists a DSMC handle
