Hello! I am newbie here.. I have been reading about hundreds of articles here these days...

I read many articles about PMW-F3 here and until it really ships (2011.Feb), no one knows for sure how it will perform. And I know that Scarlet is not even out yet.

If my understanding is right, then Scarlet FF 35mm will cost around 15~20K. and I also need extra stuffs like lenses, batteries, memory, etc.. so I assume it will cost around 30K for full kit.

PMW-F3K is out with price 16k ish.

I am intending to get a camera in mid 2012 (like May or June).. should I wait for the next generation of PMW-F3 (will there be any?) or the RED Scarlet or just PMW-F3?

I am really confused here...

(I usually shoot dramas, Music videos and show it on events and upload to website. And we do not use 4K projectors in the events (mostly HD projectors))

Thank you!

I agree. If mid 2012 is your target, you've got a while to watch the industry unfold. There is a lot that can happen in the next year and a half.

yeah,, I am waiting on more "affordable" 35mm products...

by the way, how many crews do you use when operating your REDs?

REDs see use in everything from one man operations to full film studio film sets. Steve Gibby recently posted about his normal "documentary" shooting set-up of just two people, which is presumably responsible for hundreds and hundreds of hours of footage, knowing a little about how busy that camera has been. Other productions shoot with large crews - imagine The Social Network, Spiderman 3, or the Hobbit. RED is very flexible - understanding the camera, the data, and having a good workflow is something which will go a long way in helping anyone work with the camera. Knowledge is power.
