  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet Package + Extras...Am I missing anything?

Thanx Peter! Thats exactly what i was looking at. Just the sum of all the tiny bits hurts a bit ;) Iassume I'll have a lot of screwing on and off to do anyway... If the LCD is mounted to the top I'll have to take it off, too. So that probably won't be more of an issue as anything else. But Ill try to think of some quicker way and of pieces to be able to leave on.

Okay, I went over this again, decided that a fully customizable scarlet would most likely fit. If anyone wouldn't mind looking at the OP and seeing if I'm missing anything, that'd be awesome.

Thanks!

AUDIO

Depending on the way you want to add audio, you might want to consider the XLR cable or a third party solution. Even for scratch audio you will need something.

RED STATION
If you can wait a tiny bit for it as it seems to be on back order (?) you could swap the red station for the mini red station. Depending if you want to keep it small.

CASE
As for the case, you might want to consider to get a pelican custom cut, to fit more (if not all) of your gear.
(Because the scarlet case will just fit the brain plus side handle and Redmote or module adapter.) Or just add one so you have the scarlet in its case plus a gear case.

TOUCH LCD
To me it seems that you don't have a solution to attach your LCD because the holes are taken by the swat rail for the top handle.

FOLLOW FOCUS
At one point in time you will probably need a follow focus. If you don't already have one. If you get one, you also need a rail solution.

I'll check out the mini station before I order. The case isn't a huge deal, it's for the camera itself, I have plenty of pelicans for all the other stuff. A couple that haven't had the foam touched yet.

But the Touch LCD does raise an issue if what you're saying is try. Any suggestions for a solution on that? The follow focus I can work on later, we will be doing almost exclusively locked off shots or same place shoulder shots for the tests we're doing, then plan to expand from there.

Zachary,

You can always drop RED an email on the contact page, Bomb Squad can walk you through and make some recommendations.

You can attach the LCD to the TOP SLIDING HANDLE - easy and quick to remove alongside with the handle...:

I also second Patrick's note on audio...

I would definitely get that RED XLR cable - it would allow at the very least recording a sound from directly attached boom mic, or better yet a pass-through from an audio recorder...

I also got the RODE VIDEOMIC PRO for scratch sound and basic doco work. I have posted a thread on how to make it work with the Scarlet...

Hehe. These are the things that are always easier to see if you have em live in front of you.
Ok, so this IS easy. Thanks for posting. Guess I can get myself the handle after all.

Peter, would it be possible to get the LCD to the left of the brain a bit, or would the cable be too short? The one which comes in the set is extremely short. You got the 7" on there, right?

This makes me want a full 3D shot of all the gear in the shop :) would make some things easier.

Ok thanks, Peter! I guess I'll stick to the 7" then first. Like the thought of it not "dangling" around. and as soon as I really have to mount it far away, I'll just have to reinvest...

So you can take of the rosette connection and thats where you attached the LCD, right?
