I just looked on red.com store, and Scarlet-X with PL mount says 'In Stock' and 'Shipping in limited quantities'. I thought they were on backorder still, and I can't seem to find anywhere that Jarred has said they're now in stock. Anyone know for sure?

thanks,
Scott.

It sould be in stock. I ordered Scarlet PL last month and I got the allocation email same day.

Expect some serious waiting before you have an operational camera.

That's very vague, could you elaborate? What would exactly be missing that would make it not operational?

Anyone from Red able to comment on this? If they're genuinely in stock I'll order one this week.

+1

And Scarlet is completely functionall without a side handle.

RED Touch and REDmote would suffice (REDmote is actually cheaper)... alas, I think they're all backordered, but you could probably get either of them (much?) sooner than the side-handle.

Does anyone know if the limited-range issue of the REDmote has been resolved?

I got some great range with the redmote over 15 feet.

Do you have a side-handle or RED Touch? How does the REDmote compare as a control device? At this point, I'm kind of leaning away from the Touch Screen, instead wanting to put that money towards an ATOMOS Samurai for some straight to prores recording. The only way I'd be able to affordably get the ATOMOS is if I ditch the RED touch/side-handle, and use the REDmote as my main control method (since it's the cheapest control option at $550). My motivation being that I could get more jobs with a direct-to-prores option. (Speaking of which, can you format the REDmags in camera?)

Alas, I'm waiting until phantom power is enabled and/or making sure there are no surprises at NAB (since it's only a couple of weeks away) before I put my monies down.

In two to six weeks almost everything currently offered is due to come out of backorder, and they appear to be on schedule to do just that.

I tested mine and got 30-40 feet away and a floor above. I ran out of space to go and still never lost contact. The camera was in the basement and I was in the garage. I guess I could try going outside next and see what happens. Suffice to say, my range was good!

Yeah, I've read this, and I've read people not able to get more than 5ft away before it conks out... I don't want to end up having to return the cam/redmote just to get something like this sorted out... Same with the battery-to-REDvolt hotswap issue (where it doesn't auto-swap and shuts down) or the bushing... I'd rather just wait till that stuff is sorted out, but it seems pretty hit and miss (some people don't have any probs, other people have all of them regardless of when the cameras were made.)

I'm guessing you and Sean have *newer* (s/n: 1000+ cameras)?

Interesting, have you received it yet?
Of course I received it. When I ordered Scarlet PL it was already out of backorder and I got it in less than a week from the order date.

Not true. You can make an operational camera with a 5" Red Touch and some media. I ordered my second 5" in Feb 25th and Red shipped it out on March 9th and it was a back-ordered item at the time. Now Red Store said it is in stock too.

It does seem like RED is quickly making good on their promise to be out of backorder on everything. Not quite there yet, but well on the way.

Marlon - I did!! In fact, my Side Handle - the last outstanding piece - will get to me this week! Life is good! You keeping busy?

Yep! I'm currently on a 12 day shoot, east coast tour through NJ, PHI, NY, and BOS! I need a day off!

PS: I finally got my side handle a couple weeks ago!
